Give And Take

Harry B. Sanderford

Having found himself incapable of affecting the necessary reparations, Malkovich resolved to dismantle his alley prize. His intention was to harvest the laser and some of the many small motors from inside and reassemble them as a kind of mutant kinetic laserium. He envisioned a robotic configuration that when placed beaming and whirling beneath a mottled glass bowl would transform his ceiling and walls into an extragalactic extravaganza. This new idea excited him even more than the original prospect of once again listening to his small CD collection had when he first discovered the old Sony. Sadly just as he commenced calculating counter cohesion coeficients, (hammer selection) Bradley "the brain" Buzzkill dropped by and informed him that the lasers he sought were not to be found, "in the belly of no ordinary alley audio." Deflated, Malkovich wondered at the conspiring forces of the universe while Bradley, not usually known for his glass-half-full disposition, passed a joint saying,"Good place to hide your weed though Dude."

Well, I didn't see that coming! Ya, got me again! I love the photo. It fits.

That last line was priceless. Never let defeat stop the flow of good ideas.

That was a really entertaining read. At first, I thought I was reading about some far in the future science fiction, or some guy who was a genius inventor. Nice twist without actually deceiving your reader.

Nice one Harry, I can just imagine the combined effect of the weed and the kaleidoscopic display, outta sight man. :-D (Shame Malkovitch couldn't put them both together)

Great pic too.

I like that "the brain" has his nickname in all lowercase. Doesn't get too full of himself. All that superscience gone to pot...

typo: "effecting" for "affecting" - pretty sure "effect" is a noun. Also possibly "lazer" for "laser," unless it's a super special kind of laser, which is possible in mad engineering!

Thanks John!
I often confuse those two and dang, laser just sounds like it ought to have a Z in there.
Yes Bradley remains a humble man. His nickname is actually longer as it always includes his whole real name, plus THE BRAIN in lowercase, finger quotes, and an eye roll.

Jeanette, Stephen, Allie & Steve, glad you liked it, thanks for stopping by!

That was some weird, Dude. Got any weed left?

Weird in a good way, of course!

Darn! I was looking forward to seeing that "extragalactic extravaganza!" I do have a glass half-full of "Z's" though, so if it would help Malkovich to change his lasers to laZers, I'll send him some.

excellent extragalactic extravaganza. This reminds me of the Tom Petty lyrics, "Lets get to the point and roll another joint..." ;-) Fun. Trev would like this.

Durn, you mean now that I've torn my only CD player half apart, I'm not gonna get a laZer out of it? I mean, what's playing all that music?
